Note for Biostats VHM 801 course: Textbook

For the Winter semester of 2018, students of VHM 801 have multiple choices, as outlined below, to use a textbook that matches their background and interest:

• the bare minimum:
  Scott Stephens: Introduction to Statistics: Think & Do, V4.1, available from The Worldwide Center of Mathematics,
  
• a comprehensive text for the life sciences:
  Brigitte Baldi & David Moore: The Practice of Statistics in the Life Sciences, 3rd/4th ed., WH Freeman/Macmillan, ISBN-13: 9781319013370; link to textbook page at MacMillan/ WH Freeman website,
• a comprehensive general text:
  David Moore, George McCabe & Bruce Craig: Introduction to the Practice of Statistics, 6th-7th ed., WH Freeman
  (the textbook of previous years, so it might be possible to borrow or purchase it cheaply); link to page for 8th ed. at Macmillan/WH Freeman website
• other textbooks... may be adequate as well; contact the instructor if you want to use another textbook.
